The Panhellenic Association (PHA) serves as the self-governing body for the 7 general & 1 STEM based sororites at the University of California Irvine. Panhellenic Association consists of 12 Executive Board Members that help to oversee the 8 sororities under their governance. The executive board consists of sorority members who are elected into their positions by the Panhellenic affiliated chapters. Every Monday of the academic year the executive board and chapter delegates convene for formal PHA meeting at 1pm.
How to Join
Primary sorority recruitment is held during the first weekend of the fall quarter. Students must sign up and pay a registration fee to participate in Panhellenic sorority primary recruitment. This is the only opportunity to see a majority of the Panhellenic chapters at the same time. Fall Primary recruitment is the best time to join a Panhellenic sorority.
During the winter and spring quarters, select chapters from the Panhellenic Association will hold continuous open bidding (C.O.B.) events to recruit new members. Not all chapters participate. Contact chapters directly if you want to find out if they will be recruiting new members during the Winter and Spring quarters.
Fraternities and sororities at UC Irvine are able to link to the UCI Sorority & Fraternity Life website. UC Irvine does not endorse or monitor individual chapter's websites for content. The ability to access individual chapter websites through UC Irvine's website is NOT an adoption by UC Irvine of any individual chapter's acts inconsistent with the policies of UCI.

Recognition for Fraternities & Sororities
The names of the fraternities & sororities listed on this page are the only chapters recognized at UC Irvine. There are honor societies and other professional organizations that use greek letters, but they are not recognized as a fraternity or sorority. Be aware of any group that says they are a fraternity or sorority but is not listed on this page or is not registered with the Student Life & Leadership Office.
Unrecognized groups are also considered underground groups due to the fact that their activities are done in secret.
