Meet the Greeks
Meet the Greek is an in-person kickoff event for Fall Recruitment that occurs during Welcome Week in September and allows both SFL community leaders to interact with potential new members and talk about networking, membership engagement and how to join.
New Member Education (NME) program
Addressing both the Pillar of Friendship and Leadership, the New Member Education (NME) program is an initiative to help students understand their role in their respective sorority and fraternity while learning more about topics related to campus resources, bystander intervention, anti-hazing efforts and more. To shape the next generation of UCI Anteaters and those new to the SFL community, this program is offered in two different formats: in-person and virtually.
More detailed information on the NME program available online.
Presidents Council & Tri-Council Meetings
Leadership is a cornerstone of the SFL community and a pillar at the heart of every distinguished sorority and fraternity at UCI. President Council meetings occur biweekly meetings amongst council and chapter leaders to discuss emerging topics and trends (locally and nationally) relevant to campus as well as aspects related to chapter involvement, philanthropic efforts and service to others as well as resources to utilize.
In a similar fashion, Tri-Council meetings are held with leadership from the governing councils to address office-wide programming, strategies to navigate community concerns, and approaches to engagement with member organization on topics including but not limited to recruitment, council meetings and council events.
Transition Retreat
Traditionally hosted in the Winter Quarter, the Transition Retreat is an opportunity for council executive leaders to pass the baton, do event planning, and collaboratively share helpful suggestions to their incoming counterparts.
Wellness Week
Wellness Week is a week-long event hosted by the active councils of UCI. Each day provides a different look into wellness and ways to uphold community standards. Initiated in 2019, SFL Wellness Week was started after a first-year community member passed away. In remembrance and to help current and future community members, the goal of Wellness Week is to provide undergraduate members of SFL with meaningful workshops that can improve the ways we can mitigate future risk, provide ways to better improve the overall culture on campus and enable the community to be more inclusive.
